Spring Break Part 2: Venice

I'll be breaking down my last two legs of spring break in two different posts because I have limited time and I'm still catching up on sleep, haha. So without further ado!

After being in Rome for a day, I left with Brittany, her mom Debbie, and Debbie's friend Colleen to Venice! It was a 3-hour train ride and despite my tickets saying I was in a different coach (since I didn't book my ticket at the same time as them), the ticket manager let me sit with them!

We got to Venice and found out that the boat taxi was on strike (of course; funny because the buses back in Rome this day was also on strike).  So we had to walk to the other side of Venice to get to our hotel. But we stayed positive and enjoyed the walk by discovering all the shops and ate lunch and stopped for cappuccino.

After we checked in our hotel, we walked to the piazza and looked at all the shops and enjoyed the sea breeze. I got a few things for my family at the shops inside the square.

The Bridge of Sighs!

As night fell, we grabbed dinner before we had a ghost tour of Venice. Unfortunately, Brittany got sick right before the tour, and since we all cared about her health more, we didn't join the tour and went back to the hotel. We stayed there for the rest of the night. And it was nice to just relax and sleep.

The next morning, we went back to the piazza and had breakfast at this superbly fancy cafe, where a cappuccino was like 6 or 7 euros (yikes!).

We walked around a bit more and I finished up my shopping souvenirs for my family. All done. Afterwards, we walked to a bridge and a small "port" off one of the streets, and then got on a gondola! Another checkpoint checked. We rode for 45 minutes or so. It was really nice and I got to touch the water.

After the gondola ride, we checked out and walked back to the piazza for one last walk around and toured the churches. And soon it was time to go. The water taxis were running again so we took the water taxi to the train station.

Bridge of Sighs again.
Brittany's mom Debbie wanted this particular shot after seeing it at a vendor! ;)

And that's it for Venice! The next post will be the last leg of my spring break which took place in Sicily: Stromboli and Catania! And boy, I'm really excited to share my stories from that trip.
